I enjoy playing on my XBox, but the headset that came with the Live package is really awkward. If you have it, you know what I mean. This one from Plantronics looks cool, and some of the reviews a stumbled across (go Google 'em yourself - I'm supposed to be working) say that it's pretty rocking... Of course, the Halo 2 tie in is pretty silly, but...

Time to dump another $50 into the video game pit...

The title of this post probably makes you think this will be a serious post about something. Nope!

I just installed Myst Masterpiece Edition from the MYST 10th Anniversary DVD Edition. Wow, am I disappointed! The first time I played MYST was on an Apple Macintosh of some sort (can't remember the type), and at the time MYST was a visually beautiful game. It took about 3 seconds to become disillusioned when running the new version. It sure is snappy, but it definitely looks 10+ years old!

Well, I guess I'll try out some of the new versions that come on the DVD, but I'm not holding onto much hope that they'll be any better.

Click to get the pengiun to jump, then click & hold until the pengiun is at the 'hitting point' and release to whack him. My record distance is about 575. The trick is to avoid sending the pengiun on an arc that is too high up. Skipping him along the surface yields longer distances. A high trajectory just stuffs him into the ground (which is also fun).

I'm so getting my ass kicked at this game - I'm guessing I shouldn't play it like I'm Rambo. The good news is that it looks frikking awesome! I think next winter I'm going to have to run this game periodically so that I can feel like I'm in the tropics. Of course, having people and monsters trying to kill you can take some of the joy out of it, but check back with me next February when it's 8 million below zero - I'm pretty sure the monsters and assasins will be a worthwhile tradeoff.
